Being Famous Because You're Famous

Ever heard of being famous for being famous? Know what that means? Ever see those page 3 types that didn't accomplish anything in their lives? Ever wonder why they're up there on page 3?

A bit of networking perhaps.

When I was younger I learned that the best way to make friends and be invited to people's parties was to hold a party of your own and invite those same people. They would then invite you to their parties because not doing so would make them seem ungrateful.

Also, by holding a party, you're giving other people a chance to know you better. And if your personality is pleasing enough, and if they like you, they'll want to see you again, and invite you to their social functions. And so the cycle continues.

And if you do this to as many of the right people as possible, your network is going to be huge, and your visibility is going to keep growing. And people will want to be with you because then they'll be popular by association. And you end up being famous for being famous.

So socialites seem to be doing the same thing we used to do as kids, only on a much larger scale.
