You do not 'go for trekking', you 'go trekking' or you 'go for a trek'. There is no reason to add the word 'for' after 'go' when describing a simple action, though you may use 'for' when describing a noun.
Examples:
Wrong: They went for trekking.
Correct: They went trekking.
Correct: They went for a trek.
Correct: They went on a trek.
