Gosford Park (2001)
Directed by Robert Altman. A period drama that deals with a murder that takes place at an English country house during a shooting party weekend involving many guests. Well written, but not the most interesting movie I've seen.
Rear Window (1954)
Directed by Alfred Hitchcock. An injured man is stuck at home with little else to do but watch his neighbours. He suspects one of them of murder, and decides to investigate.
Well written and interesting. Sharp witty dialogue between all the characters. The suspense in this movie doesn't come anywhere close to thrillers today like Disturbia, but the intelligent script more than makes up for that.

Not trying to be rude here, but Disturbia is a rip off of one of Hitchcock's best movies!
Who, in this day and age, can keep an audience sitting in their seat for the entire movie without losing them with a story that takes place in ONE apartment? No one.
Disturbia certainly couldn't.
And it's not just the script, watch the special features.. it's the camera angles and the reasoning behind it, the story telling, the acting, the chemistry, the music... Hitchcock was a genius, this is totally one of his best directed films ever, and quite frankly, I can't believe you compared Rear Window with Disturbia. That's ( underline 'that's' ).. disturbing.

I only said the suspense in Rear Window doesn't come close to that in Disturbia. I never said that Disturbia is a better movie. Inference Fail?

A rip off will always be compared to the original. That's normal. To expect anything else would be...well...you know...
